I Dream in Spanish

Saturday, March 19, 2005
Ay, dios mio. I have a Tico staying at my casa. He's really cool, very into the violent cartoons, though. I've been trying to speak as much Spanish as I can to him. So much, in fact, that I have began to think in Spanish half the time. Last night, I even dreampt in Spanish. It's driving me loco.

The Bare Necessities

Tuesday, March 15, 2005
Yesterday I was quite tickled to find that a new magazine addressed to me arrived in my mailbox, without any warning and free no doubt. I was also quite pleased that it toted itself as "The New Men's Magazine About Life's Necessities". When I opened it however, I was greeted by the ever needed items made by the likes of Gucci, Armani, and other cheap brands. This issue of Vitals even featured a pair of cloth Louie Vitton pants priced at a lowly $600. While there were a few cool design things hidden within the useless extravagance, none of them were at all necessities. I find it sad that even one person would consider these essentials, but then again, we live in a strange world.

On the other hand, I am in the market for some new sunglasses, but if they cost you less than $200, don't bother.

What I'm Listening to...

Monday, March 14, 2005
You can find a lot about what type of mood somebody's in by the songs they are listening to, so I decided I would share what's on my weekly changing "Good Night" playlist. It plays every night as I lay attempting the thing that quite often eludes me, sleep. I tried to do everything short of actually posting the music to help you know if the songs if you've never heard them before; they are linked to lyrics, if I could find them, or a link to the actual song.

Closing Time by Semisonic - I recently rediscovered this gem after it disappeared into the abyss shortly before middle school.
The Best of Me by The Starting Line - A relapse to my pop-punk listening days, this song was another that I forgot about but just rediscovered; it's one of the few that I like from that genre.
Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional - This is about the only Dashboard song that's not depressing; it's a nice one about happiness and sex. (Don't worry, I'm thinkin' more along the lines of happiness.)
Tisbury Lane by Mae - This is one of the best songs off of the b-side album of theirs I just received.
Free Fallin' by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - It never gets old listening to this song. It's got such a simple yet effective tune. Mmm mmm, good.
Piazza, New York Catcher by Belle & Sebastian - I don't know what it is about this song, but it's good. Belle & Sebastian may not be for everyone, but it's definitely worth a listen.
Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton - This one's mostly on here because I was working on it on my guitar and it's definitely fun to play, but it's also just a great song.
Wrong Way by Sublime - I do feel like I'm doin' it the wrong way, but this song really ain't that much comfort.
Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears - Oh, the 80's. Never can get enough of em' and this one is probably one of the best of the entire decade.

That's pretty much what I'm listenin' to, how 'bout you, what you listening to?

I've been sick for about a week now, and to be honest, it sucks. My thoughts as they appear in the picture below may seem really morbid, but that's only because they are. It was really just a quick effort to capture the raw emotion that is my pain but it came out a little more disturbing than I thought. I apologize for the repressed feeling about your dead dog that this may cause to surface-- scratch that, I don't.

So I haven't updated this in a while. I decided that I might start to share my random thought more often. They will probably be in picture form in many cases. You're in luck, too; This is one of those cases. I have no idea what the hell it is, but I started working and this is what was the result was. It's sort of a random composition of humanities truest emotions. Okay, maybe it's not...what's your interpretation Mr. Hoitie-Toitie-Art-Critic?
